Health At Every Size Alignment
The Health At Every Size approach to clinical care is weight-neutral and non-diet focused. It actively addresses anti-fat biases and the harms these messages have caused.
For my clients this approach can look like:
-Identifying the societal and interpersonal messaging that has contributed to internalized negative views about their bodies
-Identifying ways to increase body trust after years of dieting (this may include exploring Intuitive Eating and a referral to an anti-diet nutritionist for additional support)
-Exploring ways to advocate with medical professionals around complex topics in health and body.
-Working to develop body neutrality, possibly moving to body positivity
-Identifying ways to approach movement in your life that feels accessible and enjoyable
-Working through complex feelings when health symptoms require medications that may result in body changes (such as GLP-1s.)

Resources
Here are some common resources I encourage clients to explore or use:
Mila - an accessible, weight neutral approach to movement and exercise.
Kids Eat In Color - This is an Instagram account I recommend for adults too! It’s a great way to learn how to talk about foods in a morally neutral way.
Maintenance Phase - this is a podcast that can be an enjoyoable (funny, sometimes irreverent) way to learn about how the BMI came to be and how it impacts others. I recommend starting with the BMI, 10,000 steps, or Anti-Fat Bias episodes.
